‘‘An opportunity to be part of Mimi Ni Nani was such a timely experience, for students’ journey. As we all know we leave school with limited practical and professional experience and as a young Kenyan Graduate I felt the importance to immerse myself in this experience to build my experience as well as expose my thinking to a new culture. I can confidently say the two months I spent in Tanzania courtesy of the lovely Falecia Massacky were indeed a timely experience that was characterized with holistic learning from the amazing Mimi Ni Nani team, culture and environment around
My role as a business development intern, honestly pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, this was because as like being in class, Mimi Ni Nani gave me the opportunity to actually learn by doing it. The tasks done alongside their team members gave me the confidence to execute, taught me how to plan out work on excel which i must say have played a major role in my new learning.
My most epic experience was being part of Mimi Ni Nani Career Gear Up program that really gave me new perspectives on what leadership was, as well as enabled me to work on my professional documents keenly. Having to learn alongside other young students from Tanzania, was such an amazing experience that really further taught me to appreciate and embrace diversity.
I believe I also picked a lot of personal and impersonal skills within experience. I have become more resilient and positive in my thinking. The experience really made me take more ownership of each experience which is such a differential trait that’s steering me after clearing school.
I would definitely recommend young leaders to apply for similar opportunities with Mimi Ni Nani this is because being part of Leadership Development Enterprise by default pushes you to become your best, gives you an opportunity to actually learn by doing it while having an amazing team to guide you. The warmness of the people and rich culture within Dar es Salaam made the experience a holistic one.’’
